According to XDA-Developers, Microsoft is finally addressing one of OneNote’s most persistent annoyances – the search dropdown that covers page content in Horizontal Tabs layout. The fix starts rolling out immediately for OneNote on Windows Version 2511 (Build 19426.20042) users, with general availability planned for December 2025. When users open search in Horizontal Tabs layout with the page list on the right, OneNote will now automatically reposition the dropdown to minimize content overlap. Microsoft credits user feedback for driving this change and encourages more input through Help > Feedback. The company’s Bola_Soneye detailed the improvement on the Microsoft 365 Insider Blog, explaining that the search box previously covered most of the limited screen real estate.
